Ten days of celebration in the San Lorenzo hamlet of Parabiago
The Sagra di San Lorenzo is one of the longest-running and most beloved festivals in the Alto Milanese region: it takes place in the San Lorenzo hamlet of Parabiago, in the province of Milan, and boasts over fifty years of history. For about ten days, between early and mid-September, the hamlet transforms into a large festival space that attracts visitors from all over the surrounding area.
The festival traditionally opens with the Cur...Sagra, a non-competitive footrace with 5 km and 10 km routes and an 800-meter baby race for the little ones. The evenings continue with live music, bands and orchestras, group dances, and community events, such as wedding anniversary celebrations and inter-neighborhood football tournaments. The kitchen serves typical festival dishes and rotating specialties each evening, from Mexican beans to seafood pasta, with reservations via QR code for dining in or takeaway.
Among the most anticipated moments are the medieval day, with flag-wavers, jugglers, musicians, and fire-eaters animating the hamlet, and the vintage market. There are also exhibitions of vintage Vespas with elegance contests, magic shows, and fireworks that light up both weekends of the festival.
Behind the Sagra di San Lorenzo is the work of about 120 volunteers who, starting in January, prepare every detail of the event. It is this community spirit that makes the festival an authentic event, capable of uniting different generations and preserving the identity of the hamlet and Parabiago.
For 2026, the Sagra di San Lorenzo returns in early September to the San Lorenzo hamlet of Parabiago, with the usual ten-day festival format. It kicks off with the Cur...Sagra footrace (5 km, 10 km, and 800 m for kids), followed by live music every evening, a medieval day with flag-wavers and fire-eaters, the vintage market, exhibitions of vintage Vespas, and fireworks. The food stand, managed by about 120 volunteers, offers typical dishes and rotating evening specialties. The exact dates will be confirmed by the organizers, following the 2025 model (September 5-15).
The detailed schedule will be published on the official festival channels.
