The great summer concerts in the San Siro area
The Milano Summer Festival is not a festival in the classic sense of the term, but rather the umbrella that brings together the long sequence of major summer concerts which, from June to September, transform the northwest quadrant of Milan into a European capital of live music. Three main venues are involved, all concentrated in the San Siro area: the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (over 75,000 seats), the Snai San Siro Hippodrome (for horse racing) and the La Maura Hippodrome, open-air spaces capable of hosting up to 80,000 people per evening.
The strength of this musical summer lies in its variety. The San Siro Stadium hosts major Italian and international pop and rock artists, while the hippodromes host festivals and tours seeking the large open-field experience. The programming ranges from singer-songwriters to rap, from metal to Latin music, and electronic DJ sets, making Milan the Italian city with the highest number of major concerts during the summer.
The Meazza Stadium, built in 1926 and a sporting symbol of the city, has also been the most coveted stage for major artist concerts for decades: playing at San Siro is a consecration for any Italian musician. Around the stadium, the San Siro and La Maura hippodromes complete a system of venues that makes the area one of the most important live entertainment hubs in Europe.
The intensity of the season requires significant mobilization from the Municipality of Milan and the Metropolitan City: extraordinary plans for traffic, parking, and public transport accompany the busiest evenings. The M5 San Siro Stadio metro stop and the surface bus lines connect the area to the rest of the network, making the concerts accessible without a car.
For music lovers, the Milanese summer offers a rare opportunity to pack an impressive number of international-level concerts into just a few weeks. The San Siro setting, the energy of the crowds, and the atmosphere of the open-air evenings make every date an event to be experienced, whether you choose a major international star or the Italian artist of the moment.
The 2026 edition confirms Milan as the Italian capital of major summer concerts. The San Siro Stadium hosts the majority of the dates, while the Snai San Siro and La Maura Hippodromes welcome festivals and international tours. A packed schedule covering the entire summer, from June to September.
The calendar is constantly being updated: new dates may be announced during the spring.
Metro line M5 (purple), San Siro Stadio stop, a short walk from the stadium and the hippodrome entrances. Alternatively, ATM trams and surface buses. Driving is not recommended on concert nights: the Municipality implements extraordinary parking and traffic management plans.
Each concert has its own ticketing, available on the main circuits (Ticketmaster, TicketOne, Vivaticket). Prices vary depending on the artist, from around 45 euros for Italian dates up to over 70 euros for major international stars.
Arrive well in advance to avoid queues at the entrances and check the regulations on backpacks and permitted items beforehand.
