The Festa dei Sapori e delle Tradizioni is the event that brings the Venetian peasant civilization back to life in Terrassa Padovana, a town in the Bassa Padovana area in the province of Padua. The event is promoted by the historical reenactment group Origini Contadine, founded in 2006 precisely for this festival, and takes place every year in September at Parco Gasparotto, behind the town hall.
A table with tradition
The food stand offers dishes from traditional Venetian peasant cuisine: gnocchi, bigoli, trippa alla veneta, horse meat stew, baccalà alla vicentina, polenta and herring, beans in sauce, and many other local specialties, accompanied by convivial evenings.
The historical reenactment and Sunday market
The core identity of the festival is the historical reenactment: about twenty costumed participants of all ages bring to life the trades of the early twentieth century, recreating the settings of Venetian rural homes with antique furniture and tools. On Sundays, a large market is held with local products and crafts, along with horses, vintage tractors, and ploughing demonstrations. In 2026, the Origini Contadine group celebrates twenty years of activity.
