The patronal festival of Chioggia between faith, history, and tradition
The Festa dei Santi Patroni Felice e Fortunato is the patronal festival of Chioggia, a lagoon city in the province of Venice. The two martyrs are venerated as protectors of the city and their relics are kept in the Cathedral: around their anniversary, in June, days of religious and civil celebrations take place.
The heart of the festival is the solemn procession with the relics of the saints, which crosses the historic center to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, where the pontifical mass is celebrated. The Cathedral remains open until late evening for the veneration of the faithful, while during the festival days, parish pilgrimages and moments of prayer follow one another.
Alongside the religious dimension, the festival lights up the city with the traditional fair on Corso del Popolo, full of stalls selling sweets, clothing, toys, and local products. Sacred concerts are added, such as the one in the church of Santa Caterina, and cultural initiatives linked to the city's heritage. An event that tells the most authentic soul of Chioggia, where faith, history, and popular celebration have intertwined for centuries.
The 2026 edition of the Festa dei Santi Patroni Felice e Fortunato takes place in Chioggia (VE) from June 10 to 14. Amidst processions, pontifical mass, traditional fair, and cultural initiatives, the patronal festival this year coincides with the inauguration of the Sant'Andrea Tower and its Clock Museum, which houses one of the oldest tower clocks in the world (1386).
The traditional fair enlivens Corso del Popolo throughout the festival period.
Chioggia can be reached by car via the SS309 Romea or the A4 motorway (Padova Est exit, then SR516). The celebrations take place in the Cathedral and the historic center, with the fair on Corso del Popolo.
Cathedral, Corso del Popolo, and historic center of Chioggia (VE), in the month of June. Free admission.
