The patronal festival of Campagna Lupia in the Venetian hinterland
The Sagra di San Pietro is the patronal festival of Campagna Lupia, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Venice overlooking the southern lagoon, about 25 km south-west of the provincial capital. It is celebrated at the end of June, with the solemn mass on June 29th, the saint's day, and lasts for about ten days.
The programme is varied and engaging: theatre performances, concerts and DJ sets, live music evenings, Cuban music and karaoke, sports tournaments (five-a-side football, table football), activities for children, and the evocative parade of allegorical floats. The food stand offers the traditional menu of the Venetian hinterland: homemade gnocchi, mixed fried dishes, ribs and sausages, polenta and desserts, with special menu evenings.
The festival is managed by the Youth of the Parish of Campagna Lupia, with the support of local sponsors and the patronage of the Municipality. An event that combines devotion, gastronomy, and entertainment, and which represents one of the most anticipated moments of the summer for the lagoon community.
