Festa dei Bellunesi nel Mondo – Limana

The festival of a people who do not forget their roots

The Festa dei Bellunesi nel Mondo celebrates one of the most important pages in the history of the province of Belluno: emigration. From the end of the 19th century, tens of thousands of people from Belluno left the Dolomite valleys to seek work in Europe and overseas, while keeping alive, from generation to generation, the sense of belonging to their land. Every year the municipality of Limana, in Valbelluna, hosts the day that pays homage to this community spread throughout the world.

A day of memory and community

The event, organized by the Associazione Bellunesi nel Mondo together with the Municipality, opens with a procession that starts from the Parco Limanesi nel Mondo, accompanied by the association's and municipal banners, foreign delegations, and the black plumes of the Alpini soldiers. This is followed by mass in the parish church, institutional moments of remembrance, documentary exhibitions on international twinnings and friendships, and a communal lunch under the Pro Loco's marquee.

A special remembrance

In 2025, the festival was dedicated to the figure of Renato De Fanti, mayor of Limana for over 25 years, with the inauguration of the hall named after him at the town hall. A gesture that confirms the intimate and deeply felt nature of this event, capable of intertwining the grand history of emigration with the personal stories of a small mountain community.
