The alpine gathering of Val di Scalve
The Festa degli Alpini di Azzone is the traditional summer event that brings together the 'penne nere' (Alpini soldiers) and the entire community of Azzone, a mountain municipality in Val di Scalve, in the province of Bergamo. Organized by the Gruppo Alpini Azzone, the festival combines conviviality, remembrance, and the values of the Alpini corps in a picturesque mountain setting.
Two days of celebration
The event unfolds over two days. Saturday evening is dedicated to alpine refreshment at the oratory, with food and live music. Sunday is the day of the official gathering, with a program marked by the typical moments of alpine rallies:
- gathering and flag-raising
- procession through the village streets and laying of a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen
- Holy Mass at the Alpini Chapel, at the Roccolo delle Strìe
- convivial outdoor lunch
Remembrance and alpine tradition
The Festa degli Alpini di Azzone is above all a moment of remembrance and gratitude towards those who have served in the Alpini corps, as well as an occasion for celebration for the community of Val di Scalve. The bond with the mountain territory and alpine tradition makes this event a heartfelt and well-attended occasion.
Festa degli Alpini — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festa degli Alpini di Azzone takes place on Saturday August 2 and Sunday 3.
On Saturday evening, from 7 pm, the Azzone oratory (Via Santi 25) hosts the alpine refreshment with food and live music by Nabila and musicians. Sunday is dedicated to the gathering: at 9 am, assembly and flag-raising; at 10 am, procession through the village streets and laying of a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen; at 11:30 am, Holy Mass at the Alpini Chapel at Roccolo delle Strìe, followed by an outdoor lunch. In case of bad weather, the Sunday celebration will be held in the village.

How to get there
Azzone can be reached by car via the SS294 of Val di Scalve, starting from Darfo Boario Terme or Schilpario. The festival takes place at the oratory (Via Santi 25) and the Alpini Chapel.
