The Festa de l'Unità is one of the most cherished summer events in Mottola, a town in the western Murge area in the province of Taranto, Apulia. Organized by the local Democratic Party, the event brings the central Piazza XX Settembre—the beating heart of the historic center—to life for several evenings in late August, turning it into an open space for meetings and debate.

Rooted in the long-standing tradition of the Festa dell'Unità held throughout Italy, the Mottola festival combines civic commitment with a festive, community-oriented atmosphere. The evenings feature debates and round tables on current affairs, alongside live music, exhibitions, and stalls dedicated to popular cuisine. The 2025 Edition

The 2025 edition took place from August 28th to 31st in Piazza XX Settembre, featuring four evenings packed with events. Among the guests at the debates were political figures and center-left administrators, with meetings dedicated to the future of the city and the Ionian territory. Alongside the political program, the festival offered a rich cultural calendar.

Music, Exhibitions, and Performances

The cultural component is an integral part of the festival. In the 2025 edition, the public enjoyed concerts and live performances, the Metèora photography exhibition curated by Siria Ettorre, and the Tabula Gaza performance by Luigi Notarnicola. Music accompanied the evenings with performances that blended engagement and entertainment, in a festive atmosphere open to families and visitors of all ages.

The 2026 Edition

The Festa de l'Unità is a recurring fixture in the Mottola summer calendar. At the moment, the dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers: as per tradition, the event is expected to return in late August in Piazza XX Settembre. The program, including debates, guests, and concerts, will be communicated by the Democratic Party of Mottola in the weeks leading up to the event.

More than just a political initiative, the Festa de l'Unità in Mottola represents a moment of gathering for the community of the Municipality of Mottola and the neighboring towns of the Taranto Murgia.
