The Festa Barocca is the festival that transforms Muggia into a stage for ancient music every end of June. Organized by the Serenade Ensemble Musical Association with the contribution of the Municipality of Muggia, the event offers concerts, masterclasses, conferences, and costume performances, enhancing the Baroque repertoire in the most evocative locations of the town.
Concerts in Sacred Places
The heart of the festival lies in the sacred places of Muggia Vecchia and the historic center: the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta di Muggia Vecchia, the Duomo of Muggia, the Church of San Francesco, and the Church of the Crucifix. These spaces, with their strong spiritual character and precious acoustics, host the evening concerts and provide the setting for masterclasses — such as the recorder one — and student recitals, often in collaboration with the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste.
Between Music and History
The Festa Barocca is not just about concerts: it includes conferences on historical instruments and spectacular moments like "La Piazza e la Chiesa" (The Square and the Church), with period costume reenactors and folk groups, recreating the atmosphere of the past in Piazza Marconi. A program that combines education, training, and celebration, restoring a refined cultural identity to Muggia. All performances have free admission, in the Municipality of Muggia (Province of Trieste), a Venetian pearl overlooking the Adriatic.
