The Fera de Madesim is the historic fair that transforms the centre of Madesimo, a famous ski and alpine resort in Valchiavenna (province of Sondrio), into a large market for crafts and local products every summer. Its dialect name already speaks of the deep connection with the tradition of this corner of the Lombardy mountains.

The artisan skills of yesteryear

The protagonists of the fair are the artisans and their creations: wood weaving, wrought iron works, hand-painted ceramics, works in carded wool. Each object is the result of an art passed down through time, an expression of a material culture that the fair helps to preserve and promote. In the afternoon, demonstrations of basket weaving, the ancient art of weaving, are also held.
