Fera dal Borg

A day dedicated to alpine pastures and farmers

The Fera dal Borg is one of the most beloved events in Valsesia. It takes place in the village of Isolella di Borgosesia (Province of Vercelli, Piedmont) and traditionally opens the spring agricultural fair season in the valley. Every May 1st, the small village comes alive with animals, exhibitors, and visitors from across the region, all gathering to rediscover the deep bond between the community and the world of mountain livestock farming.

The cattle gathering and farming traditions

The heart of the fair is the cattle gathering, the most anticipated moment of the day, when cattle and livestock from Valsesian farmers are brought together and showcased. Alongside the animals, there are cheese-making demonstrations, where milk is transformed into cheese accompanied by a small educational workshop, followed by the awarding of the farmers. The day also features the folkloric touch of the Gruppo Scampanatori del Bar Narda, who raffle off a traditional cowbell.

Flavors, crafts, and activities for families

Along the fair stalls, visitors can taste and purchase alpine cheeses, honey, and local products, watch artisans at work, and browse the stalls showcasing Valsesian craftsmanship. For children, there is the 'baptism of the saddle' with equestrian activities, a perfect way to get closer to the animal world and enjoy a day out with the family. The event, organized by the Unione Montana Valsesia with the support of the city of Borgosesia and local associations, preserves the spirit of a community festival capable of uniting generations.
