The patronal feast of Savorgnano, between faith and rural tradition
The Feast of Saint Petronilla is the patronal feast of Savorgnano, a hamlet in the Municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone. It takes place at the end of May, around the saint's feast day, and celebrates Saint Petronilla, the patron saint of the village to whom the historic village church is also dedicated.
It is one of those rural feasts where the religious and popular dimensions naturally intertwine: alongside the religious services in honor of the patron saint are the food stalls, music, and gathering moments that liven up the small community for a few days.
The absolute protagonist is Friulian cuisine, served at the feast's stalls. Among the most requested specialties are the pie, snails, ribs, sausages, and grilled chicken, accompanied by a well-stocked wine bar with local wines. Simple and genuine dishes, expressions of a still-vibrant peasant tradition.
One of the village's treasures is precisely the Church of Saint Petronilla, a small gem of art and devotion that during the feast becomes a destination for guided tours, curated over the years also by the FAI - Gruppo di San Vito al Tagliamento. An opportunity to discover a often hidden heritage deeply linked to the village's identity.
Savorgnano is located in the western Friulian countryside, in the territory of San Vito al Tagliamento, an elegant town of art with its square, towers, and historic palaces. The Feast of Saint Petronilla is the best way to experience the most authentic and rural face of this corner of the province, where the feast remains an identity-defining and heartfelt event.
The 2026 edition of the Feast of Saint Petronilla will take place straddling late May and early June, in the hamlet of Savorgnano. The patronal feast will re-propose its traditional format, with religious celebrations in honor of the saint, food stalls, and moments of conviviality around the village church.
On the menu will be Friulian specialties – pie, snails, ribs, sausages, and grilled chicken – accompanied by a wine bar with regional wines. Guided tours of the historic Church of Saint Petronilla are also planned.
