Saint Mary of the Fountains

In Conca Casale (IS), a tiny village in Alto Molise overlooking the Mainarde mountains, the second Sunday of May is dedicated to Saint Mary of the Fountains, to whom a small sanctuary located about two kilometers from the town center is dedicated. Inside the sanctuary, there is a well, the water of which is blessed each year during the celebrations.

A Day of Nature and Faith

The feast is characterized by a traditional outing in the valleys surrounding the sanctuary, followed by an evocative procession that accompanies the statue of the Madonna from the rural sanctuary to the church of Sant'Antonio, in the village, where it remains until September. A rite that combines the spiritual dimension with the community's deep connection to its territory.

The Ancient Fountains

During the day, guided tours of the fountains are planned, the ancient springs that feed the well on which the sanctuary was built. They are a testament to the centuries-old relationship between Conca Casale and water, a precious element in a mountainous territory. Participating in the feast of Our Lady of the Fountains means discovering the authentic soul of one of the smallest and most evocative villages in Alto Molise, in the province of Isernia.
