Independent underground culture finds a home at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa
Fastidio Festival arrives in Palermo for the first time with its Edition Zero, scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Spazio Open of the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa. This is not just a standard music festival, but the city debut of a national independent scene network that has chosen the Sicilian capital as its new reference point. The initiative stems from the need to create a tangible space for underground music and all those artistic entities that often remain outside mainstream circuits.
The heart of the day is the line-up, bringing together twelve bands from five Italian cities. From Catania come Mother Giraffe, with their post-punk exploring social anxiety and contemporary alienation, Helen Burns, and Kōhei, a project balancing noise, alt-rock, and post-punk. From Florence, Zebra TSO take the stage; from Pisa, Tonno, who provocatively define their sound as "normal music" between indie rock and emo punk; while from Trieste come Katana Koala Koala, blending indie and electronica.
Alongside the live performances, the festival hosts artisans, creators, and professionals engaged in music and cultural promotion. The organizers' stated goal is to build a horizontal network between artistic craftsmanship, digital content creation, and cultural professionals: a true platform for artistic cooperation and youth entrepreneurship. The project looks ahead, aiming to establish itself as a permanent fixture at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, contributing to the creative economy and the city's tourism appeal.
The setting is no coincidence. The Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, in the Zisa district of Palermo, is a former industrial hub converted into a multicultural space, now one of the most vibrant spots in the Sicilian art scene. The outdoor Spazio Open offers the ideal context for a summer evening of independent music, gritty sounds, and free ideas.
