A celebration of rural traditions in the Area del Tufo, in the heart of the Maremma
The Farmers' Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Pitigliano, a stunning village perched on a tufa cliff in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. Promoted by the Associazione Promo Filter in collaboration with the Cantina del Torciatore 19 Marzo and the Municipality of Pitigliano, the festival pays homage to the local rural roots and the farming civilization that has shaped the landscape and life of the Area del Tufo for centuries.
For three days in early August, the streets and squares of Pitigliano's historic center transform into a grand stage for tradition. The heart of the event is the Farmers' Dinner, a convivial meal featuring typical specialties of the Area del Tufo: Maremma-style dishes rooted in the land, paired with local wines. A rich program of activities revolves around the dinner.
Known as the "Little Jerusalem" for its historic Jewish community, Pitigliano is one of the most fascinating villages in southern Tuscany, carved into tufa rock and surrounded by vineyards and countryside. The Farmers' Festival is part of a summer calendar that highlights the rural and food-and-wine identity of the area, alongside other events like the Winery Festival and the County Festival. Attending means discovering the authentic soul of the Maremma, made of earth, hard work, good food, and conviviality.
With its informal and popular atmosphere, the Farmers' Festival is designed for all ages: families, curious travelers, fans of rural traditions, and visitors vacationing in southern Tuscany will find an opportunity to get up close to the farming heritage of the Municipality of Pitigliano, amidst history, flavors, and music.
The 2026 Farmers' Festival in Pitigliano will take place from August 3rd to 5th, as confirmed by the official calendar of the Maremma village. The event maintains its traditional structure: craft market, the Farmers' Dinner with typical specialties of the Area del Tufo, vintage farm machinery display, orchestra dancing, and, as a closing event, the Farmers' Gathering at the Quattro Strade location.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including precise times and booking procedures for the dinner, will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. We recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Pitigliano and the Associazione Promo Filter for updates.
Pitigliano is located in the south of the Grosseto province, in the Area del Tufo. By car, it can be reached via the SS74 Maremmana, connecting to the Via Aurelia (SS1) and the A12 motorway. The nearest train stations are Albinia or Grosseto, from which you can continue by bus to Pitigliano.
The event takes place in early August over three days (from Monday to the weekend, depending on the edition). The 2026 edition is scheduled from August 3rd to 5th.
Activities take place in the historic center and at the Quattro Strade location. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the village's uphill streets and booking accommodation and restaurants in advance, given the summer tourist influx in the Maremma. For detailed schedules and information on booking the Farmers' Dinner, please check the official channels of the Municipality of Pitigliano and the Associazione Promo Filter.
