About Farmers' Festival

The Farmers' Festival in Torrice, organized by the Pro Loco at Piazzale degli Emigranti, celebrates the agricultural roots of the Ciociaria area. Gastronomic stalls serving pasta e fagioli, handmade gnocchi, grilled meats, and fried pizza paired with local wine, along with a market of local products, farm animal exhibits, educational workshops, and folk music, bring this day-long celebration of rural life to life from morning until late at night. Free admission.

A festival dedicated to rural life

The Farmers' Festival in Torrice, a small hillside village in the Province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria region, is a young yet deeply cherished event, created to rediscover and pass down the agricultural traditions that have shaped the identity of this corner of Lazio. Organized by the Pro Loco of Torrice with the support of the local community, the festival transforms Piazzale degli Emigranti into a large village farmyard, filled with the scents of home-cooked food, folk music, and farm animals.

The origins: a tradition reborn

The first edition took place in April 2024, with the stated goal of paying homage to the work of farmers and the genuine flavors of the land. The public's success convinced the Pro Loco to repeat the event: the second edition, held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, expanded the program with educational workshops, folk groups, and a dance evening, confirming the festival as one of the most anticipated appointments on the Torrice calendar alongside the Pallium Turricis, the town's district joust.

The flavors of Ciociaria

The heart of the festival lies in the food stalls, where you can taste the iconic dishes of Ciociarian peasant cuisine:

  • Pasta e fagioli prepared according to the traditional recipe
  • Handmade gnocchi prepared by local cooks
  • Grilled meats cooked over charcoal
  • Fried pizza, crispy and fragrant
  • Local wine from regional producers

Alongside the stalls, a market of local and artisanal products allows visitors to take home cheeses, cured meats, preserves, and crafts made by local artisans.

Farm animals, workshops, and folk music

The Farmers' Festival is designed for all ages. Children can get up close to the farm animals on display throughout the day and participate in educational workshops dedicated to handmade pasta and dairy products, while adults can find practical courses on pruning and sowing. The afternoon and evening come alive with folk music: the 2025 edition featured the group Musicaria, the Iolanda Rocchi Dance Formation, and the local folk group "Chissi delle Tufare," before the grand musical finale with a DJ set dedicated to traditional rhythms.

Torrice, the balcony of Ciociaria

The Municipality of Torrice stands on a hill a few kilometers from Frosinone, in a panoramic position overlooking the Sacco Valley. A village of medieval origins always linked to agriculture—olive groves, vineyards, and vegetable gardens still define the surrounding landscape today—Torrice guards a strong sense of community that the festival fully expresses: here, the hospitality is as genuine as the dishes served at the stalls. A visit to the festival is also an opportunity to discover the historic center and the flavors of an authentic Ciociaria, far from mass tourism circuits.

A free-admission event

The event takes place over an entire day, from morning until late at night, with free admission. It is the perfect occasion for a day trip in southern Lazio, featuring great food, folklore, and reviving traditions.
