About Farfa Fair

The Farfa Fair is a historic food, wine, and craft event that brings the medieval village of Farfa—a hamlet of Fara in Sabina, in the heart of the Rieti Sabina region—to life every spring. Promoted by the Municipality of Fara in Sabina with the support of Arsial, the fair transforms the village streets into a journey of taste, tradition, and culture: tastings of typical Sabina PDO products, local crafts, medieval re-enactments, archery, folk performances, and workshops for adults and children, all just a stone's throw from the famous Benedictine Abbey.

The Farfa Fair, in the heart of Sabina

The Farfa Fair is one of the most anticipated events of the Rieti spring: two days during which the charming Village of Farfa, one of the most beautiful hamlets in the Municipality of Fara in Sabina, turns into a widespread path of taste, tradition, and culture. At the foot of the famous Farfa Abbey, an ancient Benedictine monastery, the medieval alleys of the village welcome exhibitors, artisans, producers, and visitors in an atmosphere of times past.

A journey through the flavors of Sabina

The heart of the fair is the tasting area, created in collaboration with Campagna Amica Coldiretti and the Sabina PDO Consortium. Here, you can sample the excellence of the territory: from cheeses to gentian liqueurs, from honey to typical sweets, and the prized Sabina PDO extra virgin olive oil, accompanied by food truck offerings. The exhibition of agri-food products highlights the many small producers of Sabina and the entire Lazio region.

Tradition, entertainment, and re-enactment

Beyond gastronomy, the Farfa Fair offers a rich calendar of events: medieval re-enactments and archery demonstrations, wandering music, folk shows, and art walks to discover the village and its treasures. There is no shortage of craft workshops, such as fresh pasta making and textile arts, as well as spaces dedicated to children with entertainment and playful activities for the whole family.

Territory, culture, and sustainability

The event dedicates ample space to themes of the territory and sustainability, with conferences hosted within the Farfa Abbey dedicated to the future of agriculture, innovation, and the promotion of local production. Initiatives like the exhibition of antique agricultural equipment and eco-friendly projects tell the story of the deep bond between the community and its land.

A village to experience

Visiting the Farfa Fair also means discovering one of the most fascinating villages in Lazio: the square, the porticoes, the workshops, and the Abbey provide the backdrop for an event that combines food and wine, craftsmanship, and historical heritage. Promoted by the Municipality of Fara in Sabina, in the province of Rieti, with the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Tourism, the Province of Rieti, and the Nazzano Tevere Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, the fair is an unmissable appointment for those who love authentic flavors and the traditions of Sabina.
