The spring exhibition-market of horticulture, black truffle, and products from the Sibillini Mountains
The Fair of Plants and Black Truffle Exhibition is one of the most anticipated events of the spring calendar in Roccafluvione, a mountain municipality in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region, overlooking the Fluvione valley at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains. For over thirty years, the event has taken place punctually on the second Sunday of March and effectively marks the opening of the beautiful season for the town: a day of outdoor market that attracts nursery gardeners, producers, and visitors from all over the Piceno area.
The heart of the fair is the horticultural exhibition-market: along the streets of the town center, stalls display fruit and ornamental plants, from the most common varieties to unusual and ancient ones, along with tools and equipment for gardening. It's the perfect opportunity for those who want to prepare their vegetable patch and garden with the arrival of spring, but also to discover truffle-producing species and local horticultural practices, themes historically linked to this territory.
Alongside the plants, the Black Truffle Exhibition celebrates the gastronomic excellence of the area: the black truffle, native to this region, is the star of the stalls along with other typical products from the Valfluvione and the Sibillini Mountains, such as mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, honey, and cheeses. The fair was created with the aim of promoting the agricultural and landscape heritage of an inland area, part of the seismic crater zone, which makes the authenticity of its products a strong point.
On the day of the fair, Roccafluvione comes alive with side events: in recent editions, the exhibition-market has been part of a broader weekend of events, with activities for families, solidarity and inclusion initiatives, sports performances, and shows, and exhibitions set up in the town's spaces. It's an event designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, strolling among the stalls, tasting local flavors, and breathing the mountain air of the Marche region.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Roccafluvione with the Municipality and the patronage of the Marche Region, with the support of the Mountain Union of Tronto and Valfluvione.
The 34th edition of the Fair of Plants and Black Truffle Exhibition was held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Roccafluvione, in the Piceno area. The exhibition-market of fruit and ornamental plants and typical products from the Valfluvione was part of the broader "Corona di Spighe" weekend, a series of events promoted with the support of the Mountain Union of Tronto and Valfluvione as part of the National Strategy for Inland Areas.
The weekend program combined tradition, sport, and inclusion, with great participation from the public, families, and local associations.
