Extra Virgin Olive Oil Festival

The first edition

From November 21 to 23, 2025, Mazzarino hosted the first edition of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Festival in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the historic center. The event, organized by the Pro Loco Mazzarino APS together with the Municipality of Mazzarino, local producers, and the Istituto Carafa, celebrated the DOP Colli Nisseni oil as a symbol of a millenary tradition.

Three days of sensory experiences brought the town to life: guided tastings of new oil and local products, visits to mills to discover the oil cycle from harvesting to pressing, walks through the olive groves, traditional dishes, cultural meetings, live music, and convivial moments. The Agricultural and Hospitality sections of the Istituto Carafa offered demonstrations and tastings, highlighting the native Moresca, Nocellara, and Biancolilla cultivars.

Three days of celebration — November 21, 22, and 23, 2025

Program spread over the three days in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the historic center of Mazzarino:

• Guided tastings of new extra virgin oil and local products
• Guided tours of local mills to discover the oil cycle, from harvesting to pressing
• Walks through the olive groves of the Colli Nisseni
• Demonstrations and tastings by the Istituto Carafa (Agricultural and Hospitality sections)
• Food stalls with traditional Sicilian dishes
• Live music, folklore, and cultural meetings dedicated to olive culture
