About Tonino Accolla Festival

The Euromed Tonino Accolla Festival is an event held in late June in Syracuse and Noto that celebrates the art of dubbing in memory of the great Syracusan voice actor Tonino Accolla, the Italian voice of Eddie Murphy, Homer Simpson, and Jim Carrey. Between Piazza Minerva in Ortigia and the former Caserma Cassonello in Noto, the festival features contests for young talent from dubbing schools, masterclasses, concerts, and meetings with the most famous voices of Italian cinema. A free cultural event connecting two cities in south-eastern Sicily.

A festival dedicated to the art of dubbing

The Euromed Tonino Accolla Festival is one of the most unique cultural events in south-eastern Sicily: a festival entirely dedicated to the art of dubbing and cinema, which brings the historic center of Syracuse and the nearby Baroque city of Noto to life every year in late June. The festival is named after Tonino Accolla (1949-2013), a great voice actor and dubbing director originally from Syracuse, the Italian voice of stars like Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, and Mickey Rourke, as well as the unforgettable voice of Homer Simpson.

Between Syracuse and Noto

The event takes place in two iconic locations: the elegant Piazza Minerva, in the heart of the island of Ortigia in Syracuse, and the former Caserma Cassonello in Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque. This dual stage allows the festival to span two municipalities in the province of Syracuse, Sicily, creating a dialogue between architectural heritage and contemporary performing arts culture.

Contests, masterclasses, and famous voices

At the heart of the festival is the contest for young talent from Italian dubbing schools, who perform live by re-enacting scenes from famous films before a jury of professionals. Alongside the competition, the program offers masterclasses, public meet-and-greets, and the presentation of the Tonino Accolla Lifetime Achievement Award, a recognition reserved for the most established voices in Italian cinema. Recent editions have featured high-profile voice actors such as Fabrizio Pucci, Alessandro and Federico Campaiola, Benedetta Degli Innocenti, and Francesca Manicone.

Music, cinema, and Mediterranean culture

The festival goes beyond dubbing: the program includes concerts, screenings, presentations of audiovisual projects, and moments of reflection on economy and culture, in line with the Mediterranean vocation of the organizing association. The event is organized by A.R.C.A. Siracusa (Associazione Rinascimento Culturale Archimedeo) under the artistic direction of Stefania Altavilla, and is supported by the Municipalities of Syracuse and Noto.

A free summer event

The evening events are free to attend and held outdoors, when the Sicilian summer climate makes it particularly pleasant to enjoy the shows under the sky of Ortigia. The Euromed Tonino Accolla Festival represents a unique opportunity to discover the secrets of the voices that bring international cinema to life, while simultaneously visiting two jewels of Sicilian heritage.

Tonino Accolla Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Euromed Tonino Accolla Festival is expected to renew the appointment with the art of dubbing in Syracuse and Noto, following the success of the tenth edition in 2025. At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organization: the festival is traditionally held in the last week of June, between Piazza Minerva in Ortigia and the former Caserma Cassonello in Noto. It is recommended to follow the official channels for updates.

The 2026 edition of the Euromed Tonino Accolla Festival is expected in Syracuse and Noto, Sicily, following the previous editions dedicated to dubbing and cinema. As of today, the dates and the 2026 program have not yet been announced by A.R.C.A. Siracusa.
