Etruria Autentica - Southern Etruria Agricultural Fair is the spring event that, every year at the end of May, transforms the Villa Altieri Park in Oriolo Romano, in the province of Viterbo, into a grand open-air showcase of agriculture and craftsmanship from northern Lazio. The event was founded with a clear goal: to promote local businesses, rural traditions, and the cultural heritage of Southern Etruria, bridging the gap between agriculture, tourism, culture, and entertainment in a lush, green setting.

Villa Altieri Park, an exceptional setting

Oriolo Romano is a small town in the Sabatini Mountains, bordering the monumental beech forest and just a few kilometers from Lake Bracciano. Its historic center, laid out on a regular grid at the end of the 16th century, revolves around the Palazzo Altieri, now a state museum, and its surrounding park. It is this expansive green space that hosts the fair's stalls, giving the event a character distinct from urban trade shows—closer to village life and the agricultural landscape it seeks to highlight.

What to find at the fair

The exhibition path showcases the key players in the local rural economy. Visitors can find:

The park features play areas, small rides, and children's shows, while the most iconic highlight remains the "battesimo della sella" (first saddle experience): a guided introduction to the equestrian world, conducted safely with the assistance of instructors, allowing children to ride a horse for the first time. It is one of the most photographed moments of the event and a key reason why Etruria Autentica has become a popular day trip for families in the region.

Live music and evenings

The fair doesn't end at sunset. Each edition features evening concerts and themed nights, with a focus on Italian music and country vibes, complete with western-style music and dancing that keeps the crowd entertained late into the night. Comedy acts and entertainment shows round out a program designed for audiences of all ages.

Etruria Autentica carries on the legacy of the agricultural festivals held in the Villa Altieri park for years, giving them a more structured format and a regional scope. Recent editions have also included associations from the coast and the hinterland: in 2025, for instance, the I Volanti Storici di Ladispoli club brought around thirty vintage cars to the fair, building a bridge between the territory's agricultural history and a passion for historic vehicles. It is this blend of agriculture, memory, and conviviality that gives the event its identity: not just a simple festival, but a celebration that captures what it means to live and work in the countryside of Southern Etruria today.
