Etrurban – Open-Air Art

An open-air museum between Cassia and Flaminia

Etrurban – Open-Air Art is a widespread artistic project that enlivens the public spaces of Rome's Municipio XV, the vast northern quadrant of the capital stretching along the ancient consular roads, Via Cassia and Via Flaminia. The initiative was born from the idea of returning art to the everyday city, bringing installations, visual interventions, and performances out of museums and into the streets, squares, and transit points where the residents of North Rome live.

Etruria and the city: the meaning of a name

The title Etrurban combines two words: Etruria and urban. This is no coincidence: the territory of Municipio XV, spanning Grottarossa, La Storta, Prima Porta, and La Giustiniana, stands on lands that were once Etruscan, just a stone's throw from the ancient city of Veii. The project engages this deep archaeological memory with the languages of contemporary urban art, building a bridge between past and present, ancient landscapes, and today's suburbs.

Widespread art and participation

Etrurban proposes a public art trail designed to be free, accessible, and participatory. The works and interventions are distributed across the territory to involve residents, schools, and local associations, with the goal of regenerating common spaces through culture and strengthening the sense of community in the Cassia and Flaminia neighborhoods.

A project for Roma Capitale

Etrurban is promoted by the Associazione Inscena, an organization active in cultural production and live performance, and was selected as part of the "Roma tutto l'anno" public call, the program through which Roma Capitale and Zètema Progetto Cultura support cultural activities throughout the city. The initiative thus fits into a broader vision of culture reaching all districts, well beyond the historic center, confirming the artistic vitality of the Lazio region even in its most peripheral areas.

The detailed calendar and the complete program of interventions are currently being defined. Etrurban confirms the vocation of Rome's Municipio XV to become a widespread exhibition space, where open-air art meets the territory's Etruscan history.
