A legendary rally at the foot of Mount Etna

The Etna International Motorcycle Rally is one of the longest-running and most celebrated motorcycle gatherings in Southern Italy. Based in Belpasso, a town in the Metropolitan City of Catania nestled on the southern slopes of the volcano, the event is organized by the Moto Club Belpasso and attracts hundreds of riders from all over Italy and Europe every summer. It is much more than just a rally: it is a journey into the heart of Sicily, its roads, its villages, and its flavors.

Motorcycle tourism between lava and baroque

The program spans several days, alternating between long touring rallies and festive moments in town. Motorcycle caravans traverse the hairpin bends of Western Sicily toward Palermo, explore the treasures of Syracuse and Ortigia, and discover the Norman heritage and the villages surrounding Mount Etna. A highlight is the ascent to the volcano, reaching 2,000 meters—the true symbol of the rally.

The parade and city festivities

Among the most anticipated events is the traditional parade that leads the motorcycle caravan from Belpasso to Catania, passing through the Etnean towns, featuring the spectacular Parade of Lights in Piazza Università. Evenings are brought to life by the Night of the Stars at Piano Bottara, filled with music, fine food, and conviviality in true Sicilian spirit.

Tradition and hospitality

For nearly fifty years, the Etna Motorcycle Rally has combined a passion for two wheels with the discovery of the territory. The blessing of the helmets, award ceremonies, and cultural and gastronomic visits—from Norman castles to chocolate museums—make this event a complete experience that unites engines, nature, and culture in the heart of Sicily.

The international dimension of the rally, highlighted by its name, attracts foreign motorcyclists and organized groups who choose Belpasso as their base to explore Mount Etna and Eastern Sicily.
