A race in the heart of the Stelvio Park

Energy2Run Cancano - Giro dei Laghi di Cancano is the running race that every late August brings runners and walkers to the Cancano Lakes plateau, at over 1,900 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Valdidentro (province of Sondrio). The setting is that of the Stelvio National Park, between the two dams of Cancano and San Giacomo and the profiles of the Alta Valtellina mountains.

Two routes for all levels

The event offers two races designed to accommodate different levels of preparation: a 19 km competitive race for registered athletes and a 11 km ShortRun, the panoramic loop around Lake Cancano, which can be run or tackled as a walk or Nordic walking activity. An inclusive formula that combines competitive sport and popular participation.

Organization and local roots

The event is organized by Atletica Alta Valtellina together with the Pro Loco of Valdidentro, with the approval of FIDAL and the patronage of the Municipality of Valdidentro. It is part of the rich calendar of running races that liven up Alta Valtellina during the summer, confirming the area's vocation for trail running.

A unique natural stage

The Cancano area is one of the most beloved destinations in Alta Valtellina: reachable from Valdidentro along the road of the Torri di Fraele, it offers panoramic views ranging from the artificial lakes to the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale group. Running here means testing yourself against the altitude and, at the same time, immersing yourself in one of the most evocative alpine landscapes in Lombardy.
