Young Talents of Classical Music in Desio
«Encounters with Music – Dialogues with Young Performers» is the concert series that Desio (province of Monza and Brianza) dedicates to classical music and its new talents. Organized by the Coro Città di Desio together with the Circolo Culturale ProDesio and the pastoral community, it offers a series of concerts that showcase young performers through a journey across different composers and repertoires.
From the Basilica to the Circolo ProDesio
The concerts take place in two symbolic locations in the city: the Basilica dei Santi Siro e Materno, the religious and historical heart of Desio, and the spaces of the Circolo Culturale ProDesio, at via Garibaldi 81. Various ensembles and instruments are featured – from trumpet and organ to clarinet and piano, as well as solo piano – with programs ranging from Handel, Telemann, and Marcello to Debussy, Poulenc, Fauré, and Messiaen.
A Spring of Music and Dialogue
More than just a series of concerts, «Encounters with Music» is conceived as a dialogue between the great classical repertoire and new generations of musicians, in an intimate and attentive listening atmosphere. Admission is free, with free entry to concerts in the Basilica and booking required for those at the Circolo. An initiative that enriches Desio's cultural spring and brings classical music closer to the public.
Encounters with Music — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of «Encounters with Music – Dialogues with Young Performers», organized by the Coro Città di Desio with the Circolo Culturale ProDesio and the pastoral community, features four concerts between April and May. The first, on April 12 at 4:30 PM in the Basilica dei Santi Siro e Materno, stars Riccardo Tresin (trumpet) and Enrico Balestreri (organ) with music by Handel, Telemann, Benedetto Marcello, and Torelli. This is followed by concerts at the Circolo Culturale ProDesio: on April 16 at 9:00 PM (Ivan Schiavon on clarinet and Marta Ceretta on piano, with Debussy, Françaix, Poulenc, and Schumann), on April 26 at 4:00 PM (Patrizia Di Benedetto on piano, with Mozart, Fauré, Messiaen, and Medtner, followed by an aperitif), and on May 3 at 4:00 PM (Andrea Allegrini on piano, «Sonatas and Images», with Haydn, Debussy, and Clementi).
