About EMMA Festival

From May 29 to June 1, Rotello (Campobasso) hosts EMMA, the Molisan Community Theatre Festival: four days of theatre, music, and art between Piazza Italia and the San Rocco Theatre, all with free admission. With guests like Domenico Iannacone and Daniele Sepe, the festival focuses on participation and the fight against depopulation, giving a voice to inland areas through community theatre. Organized by UILT Molise, Il Giardino Artistic Farm, and Teatro Proskenion.

Theatre that gives voice to villages

In Rotello, a village in lower Molise in the province of Campobasso, EMMA — Molisan Community Theatre Festival is much more than a cultural review: it is a project that uses theatre as a tool for participation and to combat the depopulation of inland areas. Now in its second edition in 2026, the festival takes place from May 29 to June 1 between Piazza Italia, in front of the San Rocco Theatre, and the village spaces, with all events offering free admission.

A quality programme

The 2026 programme alternates civil theatre, music, and debate. The opening features journalist and narrator Domenico Iannacone with "Il senso dell'umano"; the second evening stars Daniele Sepe in concert with the "Spiritus Mundi" project, accompanied by Giuseppe "Spedino" Moffa and Manuel Petti; the theatrical performance "Zampalesta u cane tempesta" concludes the programme with a language also aimed at families.

A network for inland areas

Promoted by UILT Molise, Il Giardino Artistic Farm, and Teatro Proskenion, with the patronage of the Municipality of Rotello, EMMA intertwines art and social commitment, transforming a small Molise village into a community laboratory where theatre becomes an opportunity for meeting, reflection, and rebirth for the territories of the inland areas.
