The Echos Festival brings world-class music to the courtyard of the Castle of Tagliolo Monferrato, nestled in the Monferrato hills.
The International Festival Echos. Places and Music is one of the most beloved musical events in south-eastern Piedmont: since 1999, it has brought high-level concerts to castles, abbeys, churches, and historic residences across the province of Alessandria and the Monferrato region, a wine-growing landscape recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The artistic direction is led by pianist Sergio Marchegiani, with organization by the Ondasonora APS Musical Association.
Among its most scenic stops is Tagliolo Monferrato, a small town in the province of Alessandria (AL) perched on the hills of the Alto Monferrato. Here, the festival stops in the courtyard of the Castle of Tagliolo, an ancient fortress overlooking the village, as part of the thematic cycle "Wine Places": a concept that intertwines music with the oenological identity of the territory.
What makes this stop special is the complete experience it offers the public. Each event in the "Wine Places" cycle is more than just a concert: it also includes a tasting of Monferrato wines and a guided tour of the castle and the medieval village of Tagliolo, hosted by the local cultural association. It is a way to discover music while simultaneously exploring the history, architecture, and flavors of one of Piedmont's most evocative regions.
The concert in Tagliolo is part of a broad program that spans numerous municipalities in the Monferrato and Alessandria areas throughout the spring. The festival complements its wine-themed cycle with the chamber and piano performances that have always been its core, confirming its status as a cultural landmark for the entire Province of Alessandria and Piedmont. For the audience, it is an opportunity to experience great music in an intimate and cozy setting, far from the grand concert halls.
