The grand Earth Day celebration between the Pincio Terrace and the Galoppatoio in Villa Borghese
The Earth Village is the premier event of the Italian celebrations for Earth Day, the global event promoted by the United Nations. Organized by the Earth Day Italia Foundation in collaboration with the Focolare Movement, it takes place every year in the green heart of the capital, between the Pincio Terrace and the Villa Borghese Galoppatoio, in the city of Rome, Lazio. Since its first Roman edition in 2016, the event has become the most important national gathering dedicated to planetary protection, attracting tens of thousands of visitors.
For four consecutive days, the park transforms into a large, free-entry village, open to everyone from morning until evening. The offering is intentionally multidisciplinary: a mix of sports, culture, entertainment, science, and nature that involves schools, families, associations, and curious visitors alike. This is all made possible by the hard work of hundreds of volunteers and over two hundred partner organizations that bring the park to life.
Alongside the entertainment, the Village dedicates ample space to reflection through talks, meetings, and thematic festivals such as Impatta Disrupt, dedicated to Italian innovation for sustainable development, the Sustainability Education Festival aimed at young people, and events on medicine, economics, and technology serving the planet. Institutions, businesses, and civil society come together to discuss climate, the environment, and a sustainable future.
Hosted in one of the capital's most beloved parks, the Earth Village has become a symbol of Italy's ecological commitment. Its free-entry model, family-friendly atmosphere, and collaboration between the worlds of sport, science, and non-profits make it a unique opportunity to experience Villa Borghese in a new way and rediscover the bond between the city of Rome and the environment.
From April 16th to 19th, 2026, the green heart of Rome hosted a new edition of the Earth Village, the main event of Italy's Earth Day celebrations. Between the Pincio Terrace and the Villa Borghese Galoppatoio, four free days brought together families, schools, associations, and citizens around themes of the environment and sustainable development, coordinated by the Earth Day Italia Foundation.
The program combined the Sports Village with over thirty disciplines to try, the Biodiversity Village curated by the Carabinieri Forestali, the 17 Squares of the 2030 Agenda dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals, the Children's Village, and a rich schedule of live music and performances on the stages of the Pincio and the Galoppatoio.
Four days of free events, from April 16th to 19th, spread across the Villa Borghese Galoppatoio and the Pincio Terrace. Key areas and initiatives included:
