The Sprint Duathlon in the heart of Forlì

The Duathlon Sprint City of Forlì is one of the most anticipated races on the Romagna sports calendar. Every year, at the beginning of March, the historic center of the Municipality of Forlì, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, transforms into a large open-air circuit: running and cycling become protagonists among the squares, streets, and historic buildings of the city. The setting is the spectacular Piazza Aurelio Saffi, one of the largest squares in Italy, where the transition area, headquarters, and finish line are set up.

The Sprint Formula: Run, Bike, Run

The race follows the classic sprint duathlon formula, divided into three consecutive stages:

• 5 km run on a city circuit of 1.250 km to be repeated four times in the historic center, with start and finish in Piazza Saffi;
• 20 km road cycling, along an urban and extra-urban route closed to traffic;
• 2.5 km final run, on a concluding circuit that follows the same path as the first running stage.

The first running section crosses some of Forlì's most evocative streets, including Via delle Torri, Piazza Ordelaffi, Via Maroncelli, Via Placucci, and Corso Garibaldi, while the cycling stage takes place on Corso Mazzini and on the city and extra-urban roads towards the Forlì countryside.

An Event for All Ages

In addition to the main race for absolute and Age Group athletes, the day includes the Duathlon Kids, an event dedicated to the youngest participants, which livens up the morning and introduces children and teenagers to multi-sport disciplines. In recent years, the event has seen over 390 athletes in the Sprint race and more than 140 participants among the very young, confirming its status as a benchmark event for the regional triathlon movement.

Opening the Season in Emilia-Romagna

The Duathlon City of Forlì is traditionally the first race of the season for triathlon in Emilia-Romagna and is part of the regional FITRI Age Group circuit. For this reason, it attracts clubs and athletes from all over the region and beyond, eager to inaugurate the competitive year in the streets of the Romagna city. The organization is managed by Overcome, with the patronage of the Municipality of Forlì.
