The festival of Italy's only DOP mussel

The DOP Mussel Festival of Porto Tolle is dedicated to a unique product: the Scardovari Mussel, the only bivalve in Italy to have obtained the Protected Designation of Origin. Hosted in the hamlet of Santa Giulia, in the province of Rovigo, the event celebrates the excellence of the Sacca di Scardovari, where the brackish waters of the Po Delta give the mussels an unmistakable flavor.

Four evenings of taste

The food stand is the heart of the festival: for four days it offers the DOP mussel cooked in all its variations, from the classic with sauce to traditional delta recipes. The covered dance floor accompanies the evenings with live music and DJ sets, in a festive atmosphere that attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over the Polesine region.

An excellence of the Po Delta

The festival is much more than a gastronomic feast: it is the showcase of a territory that lives by its relationship with water. The Scardovari Mussel represents the fruit of the daily work of the fishermen of the Sacca, in an area that is part of the Veneto Regional Park of the Po Delta, recognized as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO as part of the MAB (Man and Biosphere) program.
