Opera concert for March 8th at the former Convent of the Clarisse
Donne all'Opera is the event with which the Municipality of Belvedere Ostrense, a small hilltop village in the province of Ancona, celebrates International Women's Day every year. The concert takes place in the cellars of the former Convent of the Clarisse, a cozy and charming space in the heart of the historic center, and offers a musical journey entirely dedicated to the female protagonists of melodrama.
The project stems from the collaboration between the Municipality and the prestigious Accademia d'Arte Lirica of Osimo, one of the most important advanced training schools for opera singers in Italy. The young talents of the Academy perform on stage: sopranos Antonella Granata and Nadiia Kichula, mezzo-soprano Eleonora Filipponi, tenor Hiroki Kono, and baritone Rza Khosrovzade, accompanied at the piano. Their voices give life to a kaleidoscope of emotions—love, passion, cunning, jealousy, rebellion, sacrifice, and redemption—embodied by the great female characters in opera history.
The musical journey traverses some of the most beloved pages of the operatic repertoire, with arias and pieces by Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, Bizet, Leoncavallo, and Puccini. Among the characters brought to life in the concert are the Countess and Susanna from The Marriage of Figaro, Semiramide, Nannetta, Isabella, the indomitable Carmen, the sweet Lauretta from Gianni Schicchi, and the poignant Suor Angelica: a tribute spanning two centuries of musical theater.
The ancient convent of the Clarisse is now one of the symbolic places of Belvedere Ostrense, hosting cultural initiatives that animate the village. Its cellars, with their intimate acoustics, offer the audience a close-up and engaging experience, far from large theaters but capable of conveying all the emotion of live opera singing.
Donne all'Opera combines artistic quality with a spirit of celebration and sharing, typical of the Marche region: at the end of the concert, the Pro Loco offers an aperitif, a convivial moment that extends the evening. The event, with affordable ticket prices, is designed to introduce even those who do not regularly attend opera theaters to melodrama, in full consistency with the educational mission of the Osimo Academy and the Municipality of Belvedere Ostrense's focus on culture and the enhancement of the Marche territory.
The 2026 edition of Donne all'Opera was held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the cellars of the former Convent of the Clarisse in Belvedere Ostrense, marking the second consecutive year of collaboration between the Municipality and the Accademia d'Arte Lirica of Osimo.
