The Monsano stops of the great Vallesina musical festival
The Pergolesi Spontini Festival is the largest musical event in the Jesi and Vallesina area, in the heart of the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. Promoted by the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation, it is named after two composers linked to this land: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, born in Jesi in 1710, and Gaspare Spontini, originally from Maiolati. The festival is not limited to the main town; it is a widespread event that brings great music to even the smallest villages, and among these is Monsano, a municipality of just over three thousand inhabitants that hosts some of the most evocative stops on the program each year.
The 2026 edition, scheduled from July 18th to September 21st, is titled "Accordi disarmanti" (Disarming Chords): a journey that reflects on the power of music as a tool for dialogue and cohesion. Over thirty events span diverse genres, from Baroque to Classical, from Jazz to Pop, as well as theatre, dance, and cine-concerts, involving Jesi, Maiolati Spontini, Monsano, Morro d'Alba, Montecarotto, Monte Roberto, Poggio San Marcello, and San Paolo di Jesi.
The most anticipated event in Monsano is the cine-concert on July 22nd, 2026, under the stars in Piazza dei Caduti. Three famous silent short films by Buster Keaton will be screened, accompanied live by original music by Attura, Zoccatelli, and Biscione, performed by the Time Machine Ensemble under the direction of Marco Attura. An evening that combines the magic of early cinema with the freshness of a specially composed score, in a spectacular format suitable for the whole family.
The second event in Monsano is the chamber concert of the Residart format, scheduled for September 12th, 2026, at 9 PM in the intimate Church of Santa Maria degli Aroli. Born from the collaboration between the Foundation, the Residart Festival, and the Orlando European Summer Course, the project highlights young performers under 35 with a repertoire ranging from Baroque to the 20th century, featuring works by Schumann, Stravinsky, and Chopin. It's an opportunity to discover some of the emerging talents of the international chamber music scene in an intimate and charming setting.
The Monsano events perfectly capture the identity of the Pergolesi Spontini Festival: bringing high-quality concerts, usually reserved for large halls, to the small towns of the Vallesina, while enhancing the local squares and churches. For visitors to the Marche region in the summer, these events offer an authentic way to experience the region, combining music, rolling hills, and the hospitality of the villages in the province of Ancona.
The Monsano stops of the XXVI edition of the Pergolesi Spontini Festival, part of the 2026 widespread program (July 18th - September 21st) titled "Accordi disarmanti" (Disarming Chords), confirm Monsano (AN) among the featured villages of the event. Two events are dedicated to the municipality: a summer outdoor cine-concert and an autumn chamber concert, held in two different and complementary locations within the village.
The Monsano events are part of a widespread program of over thirty performances in the Vallesina municipalities.
