Over twenty life-sized dinosaurs at the Certosa di Calci
Within the evocative halls of the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa, housed in the monumental Certosa di Calci (Municipality of Calci, Province of Pisa, Tuscany), comes Dinosauri, a temporary exhibition that revives the largest reptiles to ever walk the Earth. Curated by Naturaliter, the display features over twenty life-sized models, both static and dynamic, reconstructed with scientific precision and placed in settings that depict them during key moments of their existence.
Along the path, visitors encounter some of the most iconic and curious species of the Mesozoic era:
Several specimens move and emit sounds: an immersive setup that may stir strong emotions in sensitive individuals and young children, but which is precisely why it fascinates both young and old.
The exhibition enhances an already extraordinary institution: the Natural History Museum of Calci is among the oldest in the world and houses, in addition to permanent exhibits, a large Aquarium and the famous Gallery of Cetaceans. The setting of the Certosa, a monumental complex on the slopes of Monte Pisano, makes the visit an experience that blends nature, science, and historical-artistic heritage.
With its educational and spectacular approach, Dinosauri is an ideal destination for families, school groups, and paleontology enthusiasts. Inaugurated in February 2025, the exhibition has been extended until August 31, 2026, thanks to the huge influx of visitors, becoming one of the top attractions in the Pisan territory and the whole of Tuscany.
In 2026, the temporary exhibition Dinosauri continues at the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa, in the Certosa di Calci, following the extension decided due to the huge influx of visitors recorded in 2025. The route remains the same one that captivated thousands of visitors: over twenty life-sized models, static and dynamic, immersed in settings that reconstruct the world of the Mesozoic.
The visit to the exhibition is included in the combined ticket that also grants access to the permanent exhibits of the Museum, the Aquarium, and the Gallery of Cetaceans: an opportunity to combine the thrill of dinosaurs with the discovery of one of Italy's most important natural history collections.
The exhibition unfolds through over twenty life-sized models, static and dynamic, depicting dinosaurs in key moments of their lives. Among the stars:
