Deruta, open-air gallery of international ceramics
With Deruta Magia di un'Arte, the town in the province of Perugia — one of the most important ceramic centers in Europe — transforms into a true open-air art gallery. The event, of an international nature, celebrates artistic ceramics through exhibitions, displays, assemblies, workshops, concerts, and themed meetings held throughout the area.
The event hosts the assemblies of the AEuCC (European grouping of ceramic cities) and the European Route of Ceramics, with the support of AiCC. The exhibitions feature works from twelve countries and from the sixty entities of the Italian association of Cities of Ceramics, distributed across six exhibitions in museums, squares, ancient kilns, and the art school.
The program intertwines the artistic dimension with cooperation and training: from the works of students from the Magnini Art School to solidarity workshops, up to the events that make Deruta and Umbria a reference point for contemporary European ceramics. A review that combines centuries-old tradition and current artistic research.
The 2026 edition was spread over two weekends: from April 15th to 18th and on April 25th-26th. The heart of the event was the system of six exhibitions located in museums, squares, ancient kilns, and art schools, featuring works from twelve countries and sixty ceramic cities. Accompanying the exhibitions were the assemblies of AEuCC and the European Route of Ceramics, as well as workshops, themed meetings, and concerts.
Deruta is about 20 km south of Perugia, reachable from the E45 (Deruta exit). The exhibitions are spread across the Regional Museum of Ceramics, the squares, the ancient kilns, and the art school in the center.
For the updated program, it is advisable to consult the channels of the Municipality of Deruta and the local Umbrian press.
