The small village that lives on dumplings

The Dumpling Festival is the event that enlivens Derovere every spring, a small municipality in the Province of Cremona with just over 280 inhabitants. For ten days, Piazza San Giorgio transforms into a large outdoor and indoor restaurant, where the gastronomic tradition of the lower Cremona area becomes the absolute protagonist.

Traditional dumplings

The heart of the festival is the handmade dumplings, prepared according to an ancient local recipe. Alongside this symbolic dish, the menu offers the great classics of Padan peasant cuisine: pork chops, fried frogs, fried fish, salami, and polenta, as well as grilled meats. A generous and authentic offering, designed for those seeking the true flavors of tradition.

The Cantadruer and entertainment

The festival is not just about gastronomy: among the most anticipated events is the "Cantadruer" singing competition, a folk singing contest that brings voices and joy to the square. The program is completed by exhibitions, folklore moments, and sports competitions, making the festival a meeting point for the entire community and neighboring towns.

A community celebration

Organized by the Pro Loco of Derovere, the festival is a perfect example of how even the smallest villages in the lower Lombardy region can create events capable of attracting visitors from all over the province. For Derovere, it is the most important event of the year, an expression of a rural identity still alive in the Cremona countryside.
