About Cuncertass

Cuncertass is the independent music festival that closes the Piacenza Collettiva week, between April 30th and May 1st, in the courtyard of the Cooperativa Sant'Antonio on Via Emilia Pavese. Born in 2004, it brings together dozens of bands, singer-songwriters, and DJ sets on multiple stages, in a large shared space where live music intertwines with talks, podcasts, and reflections on work, culture, and rights. Free entry, open kitchens, and a popular atmosphere in the heart of Piacenza.

Cuncertass, the Piacenza independent music festival

Cuncertass is one of the most established events in the independent music scene of the Municipality of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, between April 30th and May 1st, the courtyard of the Cooperativa Sant'Antonio, on Via Emilia Pavese 238, transforms into a large shared space where bands, singer-songwriters, emerging groups, and DJ sets alternate for over ten hours of non-stop music. The event, free and open to all, attracts an audience that comes not only from the city but from various provinces of the Po Valley.

A festival born in 2004

The first edition of Cuncertass dates back to 2004: since then, the festival has grown to become a reference point for those seeking live music far from the major commercial circuits. The name itself, in Piacenza dialect, evokes the idea of a popular and collective big concert. Over the years, various genres have alternated, from rock to punk, from electronic to singer-songwriter, through funk, ska, and psychedelia, always with a particular focus on emerging local artists.

Music, work, and rights

Cuncertass is the concluding event of Piacenza Collettiva, the week of initiatives organized by CGIL, Arci, and ANPI Piacenza which, from April 25th to May 1st, celebrates the Resistance, Liberation, and Labor Day. For this reason, music is accompanied by moments of discussion: talks, podcasts, and debate spaces on work, culture, and rights, curated by local journalists and professionals. The festival takes place immediately after the May 1st parade, extending the day dedicated to the world of work in a cultural key.

Two stages and over twenty live acts

The organization, entrusted to the Camera del Lavoro CGIL and Arci of Piacenza with the contribution of numerous volunteers, sets up two stages designed as a single long shared space, under the artistic direction of Pietro Corvi. The lineup usually exceeds twenty performances including concerts and DJ sets, with local bands and special guests. There are also open kitchens, grills, bars, and taps, with vegetarian options, to enjoy the festival from afternoon until late at night.

A popular and identity-building event

More than just a festival, Cuncertass is a collective experience that blends music, relationships, and community. The setting of the Cooperativa Sant'Antonio, a historic space in the neighborhood, makes it an event deeply linked to the popular identity of Piacenza and capable, from edition to edition, of renewing its audience while maintaining the original spirit intact.
