Crevola Art Trekking is one of the most original events in the Ossola Valley: a sprawling contemporary art exhibition that you experience on foot, following the trail that connects Scezza (750 m) to Alpe Prasca (1,299 m), in the municipality of Crevoladossola, in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont). The route, covering about 9 kilometers with an elevation gain of approximately 600 meters, transforms for one day into an open-air gallery where artworks engage in a dialogue with forests, streams, and high-altitude pastures.
A museum along the trail
The installations are curated by an artistic committee and scattered along the path: each display consists of three to five works, marking the ascent with stops for rest and wonder. The concept is simple yet powerful: art leaves the exhibition halls to confront the alpine nature, while the public discovers it at their own pace. After the event, one work from each artist is exhibited for a month at the Ossola Outdoor Center gallery, extending the experience down in the valley.
Hike independently or with the CAI
You can hike the entire trail or just a portion, according to your own pace, in total freedom or by joining the guided departure with the guides from the SEO section of the CAI of Domodossola. A refreshment point is available halfway up the climb, while at Alpe Prasca, the Crevoladossola Alpini Group hosts lunch to conclude the day in a convivial atmosphere.
Together with Musica in Quota
Crevola Art Trekking takes place in conjunction with the Musica in Quota stage at Alpe Prasca, a festival that brings concerts to the alpine pastures of the Ossola Valley: the arrival of the trek thus coincides with live music at altitude, set against a spectacular natural backdrop.
Organization and territory
The event is organized by the Consorzio di Crevola Alta together with the Crevoladossola Alpini Group and the SEO section of the CAI of Domodossola, with the patronage of the Municipality of Crevoladossola and the Unione Montana delle Valli dell'Ossola. It is a grassroots project, a living expression of the Crevola Alta community, which promotes trails and high-altitude hamlets through culture. In case of bad weather, the event is postponed to the following Sunday.
Crevola Art Trekking — edition 2026
La quarta edizione del Crevola Art Trekking, domenica 7 giugno 2026, ha portato lungo il sentiero da Scezza all'Alpe Prasca le installazioni di tredici artisti contemporanei, in concomitanza con la 20ª edizione di Musica in Quota. Le opere, disseminate lungo i 9 km di tracciato, hanno trasformato la salita in una galleria a cielo aperto, mentre all'Alpe Prasca il concerto e il pranzo degli Alpini hanno chiuso la giornata.

- 8:30 — Partenza guidata da Scezza con gli accompagnatori della sezione SEO del CAI di Domodossola
- 9:00 – 17:00 — Crevola Art Trekking: percorso espositivo lungo il sentiero verso l'Alpe Prasca, con punto ristoro a metà salita
- 11:30 — Concerto di Musica in Quota all'Alpe Prasca: Canaja Brass Quintet (Erika Patrucco e Michele Tarabbia alla tromba, Federico Armari al corno, Nicolò Bombelli al trombone, Marina Boselli all'euphonium) con i performer di Four Hand Circus, Claudia Ossola e Fabrizio Palazzo
- Dalle 12:00 — Pranzo a cura del Gruppo Alpini di Crevoladossola all'Alpe Prasca
Lungo il percorso le opere dei tredici artisti: Diana Alvarez, Daniele Bariviera, Lorenzo Cancelli, Gabriele Cantadore, Esteban Marco Cavallo, Michele Della Piazza, Oliviero Feccia, Johanna Karvonen, Leonardo Lebenicnik, Calin Muscalu, Fabio Nicola con Giovanna Vettorello, Lorenzo Vecchietti e Gioele Zaccheo. Ogni allestimento è composto da tre a cinque opere.
Iniziativa speciale 2026: estrazione di un premio (pomeriggio relax con cena per due all'Albergo Edelweiss LareSpa di Viceno) per chi raggiungeva l'Alpe Colmine, scattava un selfie presso il bivacco degli Alpini e si presentava entro le 15:00 all'Alpe Prasca.

How to get there
Crevoladossola can be reached by car via the A26 motorway (exit towards Domodossola) or by train to Domodossola station, an international hub on the Simplon line, from where you continue towards the hamlet of Scezza, the starting point of the trail.
On the trail
An itinerary of about 9 km with 600 m of elevation gain, from Scezza (750 m) to Alpe Prasca (1,299 m). Hiking boots, layered clothing, and water are recommended. Guided departure with the CAI at 8:30 AM; the trail can be hiked independently in its entirety or in part.
Refreshments
Refreshment point halfway up the climb and lunch provided by the Alpini Group at Alpe Prasca.
