Thirty-two days of concerts throughout the city of the violin
The Cremona International Spring Music Festival is the major spring event that, for over a month, transforms Cremona โ the city of luthiers, in Lombardy โ into a widespread stage. Promoted by the Rete Musicale Piazza Stradivari (Stradivari Square Music Network), with the "A. Stradivari" Music High School as the leading institution, the festival stems from the idea of networking the musical energies of the territory, from educational institutions to orchestras, up to major international names.
The program features over 50 concerts held in theatres, churches, auditoriums, and squares across the city, involving more than 2000 musicians, from schoolchildren to established professionals. The festival thus intertwines the educational dimension โ with projects bringing music into schools โ and high-level concert performance, hosting orchestras and choirs from various European countries.
The core identity of the festival lies in its connection with youth music education. The opening ceremony, hosted at the Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli, features students, ensembles from the Music High School, and eight hundred children from the "Violino va a scuola" (Violin Goes to School) project, in a crescendo that runs from morning to the grand evening concert. It's a virtuous model that makes Cremona a permanent laboratory for music education.
Alongside local ensembles, the festival welcomes orchestras and choirs from all over Europe, confirming the international vocation of the Province of Cremona and its luthier tradition. For the city, it's an opportunity to experience music in a widespread and daily manner, rediscovering historic venues transformed into concert halls.
The fifth edition of the Cremona International Spring Music Festival runs from April 30 to June 14, 2026, with an intensive core of 32 days of programming and over 50 concerts spread across the city's venues. More than 2000 musicians are involved, from students to international professionals.
The opening on April 30 at the Teatro Ponchielli is divided into three parts: at 11:30 AM, the percussion ensemble of the "A. Stradivari" Music High School; at 4:00 PM, the 800 children from the "Violino va a scuola" project; and in the evening, a grand concert with a symphony orchestra, the Mousikรจ youth orchestra, and a children's choir. Among the events, Verdi's Messa da Requiem in the church of Sant'Agostino, with orchestras and choirs from Slovenia, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Germany, and the Netherlands.
