A race blending sport, faith, and nature in the Daunian Mountains
The Corsa dei Santi has become a staple of summer in Deliceto, a small town in the Daunian Mountains in the province of Foggia, in the heart of the most authentic and off-the-beaten-path Puglia. It is not just a simple running race: it is an event that unites sport, faith, and nature, leading athletes and walkers from the town center up to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione, a spiritual and panoramic destination overlooking the valley.
The course, approximately 10 kilometers long, starts in the center of Deliceto and climbs through the town streets and the Daunian countryside to the sanctuary square. The event is organized into several formats designed to welcome everyone:
The event's name honors the two saints linked to the Sanctuary of the Consolazione. According to tradition, Saint Alphonsus Liguori composed the famous carol Tu scendi dalle stelle here, while Saint Gerard Majella stayed in these places as a young man. The race thus becomes a way to rediscover a devotional heritage deeply felt by the community and to promote one of the most cherished sanctuaries in the Capitanata region.
The finish line at the sanctuary is also an invitation to discover Deliceto, dominated by its Norman-Swabian castle and the alleys of the medieval village. The Daunian Mountains, with their rolling landscapes, forests, and small villages, provide the backdrop for an event that aims to promote the territory, slow tourism, and a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.
Organized by Prime Time Promotions with the involvement of local runners and the support of the Municipality of Deliceto, the Corsa dei Santi attracts athletes from all over Puglia and beyond every year. More than a competition, it is a popular festival that brings together sports enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors around a route that offers effort, views, and spirituality in a single summer morning.
The Corsa dei Santi returns to Deliceto (Foggia) for its eighth edition, scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026, as confirmed by the organizers. The event maintains the formula that combines sport, faith, and nature, with the customary finish at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione in the Daunian Mountains.
For 2026, the three components of the race are confirmed: the competitive race for registered athletes and Runcard holders, the non-competitive run, and the leisure walk open to families and walking enthusiasts.
The dates for the 2026 edition are confirmed for Sunday, August 23, 2026. The detailed program โ including departure times, meeting points, registration fees, and services โ will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event on the official website corsadeisanti.it and through regional running channels.
Based on previous editions, the event includes:
Arrival at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione in the Daunian Mountains. A route that combines competition, spirituality, and landscape in the places associated with Saint Alphonsus Liguori and Saint Gerard Majella.
Departure from the center of Deliceto (FG), Daunian Mountains, with arrival at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione. Postal code 71026, province of Foggia, Puglia.
By car: from Foggia, you can reach Deliceto via the roads of the Daunian Mountains in about an hour. The most convenient train station is Foggia, the main hub in the area; from there, continue by car or local connections.
Registration for the competitive and non-competitive races is done through the official event portal (corsadeisanti.it) and regional running channels. Regulations and liability waivers are available in PDF format on the website. It is recommended to check fees and deadlines closer to the event.
As this is a summer uphill route to the sanctuary, technical clothing, a cap, and good hydration are recommended. The leisure walk is also suitable for families with children.
