The historic national running race of Lucrezia di Cartoceto
CorriLucrezia is one of the longest-running and most beloved running races in the province of Pesaro and Urbino. It takes place every year on April 25th through the streets of Lucrezia, a populous hamlet of the Municipality of Cartoceto, in the heart of the Metauro Valley. What began as a village race has transformed over the years into a national event, included in the Fidal calendar and valid for the Marche Grand Prix, capable of attracting hundreds of athletes from all over Central Italy.
The heart of the day is the 10-kilometer competitive race, run on a flat and fast course that winds through the town of Lucrezia and the surrounding countryside, particularly appreciated by those seeking fast times. Alongside the competitive race, CorriLucrezia offers a 5-kilometer fun run, open to everyone, and youth races for under-17s over distances of 200, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 meters.
One of the distinctive features of the event is its strong commitment to inclusion: every edition welcomes wheelchair athletes from the Road Runners and offers the Homobonus course, a loop of about one kilometer designed for people with different abilities and for the many local associations. The race is also an opportunity for solidarity, with trophies linked to Avis and BCC Fano awarding donors, members, and the largest groups.
CorriLucrezia is much more than a competition: it is a true village celebration, organized with passion by the Gruppo Podistico Lucrezia in collaboration with the Municipality of Cartoceto. The start, coinciding with the Liberation Day, transforms the hamlet into a crossroads of sport, music, and conviviality, where the streets fill with runners, families, and onlookers. For those visiting the Marche region at this time, it is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Pesaro hinterland, just a few kilometers from Fano and the Adriatic coast.
The 40th CorriLucrezia celebrated an important milestone: four decades of a race that has become a classic of Marche running. Organized by the Gruppo Podistico Lucrezia, led by president Bruno Toccacieli, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cartoceto, the 2026 edition saw nearly 900 participants and a strong public turnout. The event was valid for the 2026 Marche Grand Prix and awarded the 17th BCC Fano Trophy, the 15th Avis Trophy, and the 14th BCC Fano Social Championship.
Opening with wheelchair athletes from the Road Runners and their companions.
In the men's 10 km race, Lorenzo Bugli (Dinamo Sport) won in 32'54", ahead of Matteo Collini (Moretti Corva) and Andrea Fiorani (Avis Castel San Pietro). Among the women, Giulia Giorgi (Calcestruzzi Corradini) took victory in 35'58", setting a course record. The award for the largest group went to Atletica Fossombrone (90 finishers). In the BCC Fano Social Championship, the titles went to Giacomo Vitali and Caterina Di Cecchi.
CorriLucrezia takes place every April 25th in Lucrezia di Cartoceto (PU). Youth races start around 9:15 AM, the 10 km competitive race at 10:00 AM, followed by the fun run and the Homobonus course.
By car: Lucrezia di Cartoceto is easily reachable from the SS73bis and the Fano highway exit (A14), about 10 km away. By train: the nearest station is Fano, on the Adriatic line, from where you can continue by car or bus towards the hinterland.
Registration for the competitive race is through affiliated Fidal clubs/sports promotion bodies; the fun run is open to everyone. For information, contact Gruppo Podistico Lucrezia.
