About Corri Veglie

Corri Veglie is the running event that brings the streets of Veglie, a town in the Salento area of Lecce province, to life every summer. Now in its third edition, it features an 8 km FIDAL-certified competitive race, part of the "Running in Salento Summer" circuit, alongside a 6 km non-competitive fun run open to everyone. Starting at sunset from the Area Mercatale, the event turns the town streets into a festive course, fueled by cheering crowds and the unique atmosphere of a Puglian summer.

The race of the Salento summer

Corri Veglie is the running event that the Municipality of Veglie, in the heart of central Salento, dedicates to runners and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Organized by the Salento in Corsa Veglie association in collaboration with the FIDAL Provincial Committee of Lecce, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most popular stops on the summer circuit in the province of Lecce.

Two races for everyone

The core of the event is the 8 km FIDAL competitive race, a fast urban course suitable for both registered athletes and those looking to set a personal best. Alongside the competition, there is a non-competitive fun run, designed for families, casual walkers, and anyone who wants to enjoy the festivities without the pressure of a stopwatch.

  • FIDAL-certified 8 km competitive race
  • Non-competitive fun run open to all ages
  • Evening start, when the heat of the day gives way to the cool of sunset
  • Refreshments and awards ceremony at the end of the races

A stop on the "Running in Salento Summer" circuit

Corri Veglie is part of the "Running in Salento Summer" circuit, which brings together various running races across the Salento territory during the hottest months of the year. Running in Veglie means being part of a larger calendar that takes athletes through the streets of the province of Lecce.

Veglie and its surroundings

Located just a few kilometers from Lecce and the Ionian coast, Veglie is an agricultural hub in southern Puglia, known for its wine and olive oil production and its folk traditions. The event is supported by the Municipality of Veglie, the Puglia Region, and the Puglia2026 project, highlighting the value of sport for the local community. The start and finish lines are located at the Area Mercatale, a spacious and easily accessible area in the heart of the town.

A growing event

Born as a neighborhood initiative, Corri Veglie has seen its number of participants and organizational quality grow year after year, becoming a moment of gathering that combines sport, social life, and the promotion of the Salento region.
