The chamber music series of the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano
In the hilltop village of Pitigliano, in the province of Grosseto, spring brings Concerti in Accademia, a chamber music series promoted by the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano. The events are held at the Academy's headquarters in Piazza della Repubblica, in the historic center of the town known throughout Tuscany as the "Little Jerusalem" for its ancient Jewish community.
The series was created with a specific goal: to bring the public closer to classical music in an intimate and welcoming setting, while showcasing young local talents and esteemed guest artists. Each edition features a mix of instrumental duos and trios, recitals, and educational moments, with a program spanning from the classical and romantic repertoire to 20th-century masterpieces.
What sets Concerti in Accademia apart is the blend of live performance and narrative. Alongside the concerts themselves, there are multimedia events where films, photographs, and guided listening sessions explore the lives and art of great 20th-century performers. This formula makes the series perfect for both seasoned enthusiasts and those approaching classical music for the first time.
The 2026 edition, the fourth, offers four events spread between April and June, with a crescendo of voices and instruments: saxophone and piano, sopranos and piano for a tribute to Mozart, and cello and piano to close on the day of the Festa della Musica (World Music Day). All concerts are free admission, in line with the series' educational mission.
Concerti in Accademia is organized by the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano in collaboration with the Agimus association and with the patronage of the Municipality of Pitigliano. The series has become a highly anticipated event in the Maremma's spring cultural calendar, successfully combining high-quality musical offerings with the charm of one of southern Tuscany's most evocative locations.
The fourth edition of Concerti in Accademia takes place between April 19 and June 21, 2026, at the headquarters of the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano, in Piazza della Repubblica. Four free events ranging from musical education to chamber music, with a finale dedicated to the Festa della Musica on the summer solstice.
The series is promoted by the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano in collaboration with the Agimus association and with the patronage of the Municipality of Pitigliano.
