Cinema focusing on social inclusion and sustainability in the village of Conca della Campania
The Conca Film Festival is a cinematic event that, with every edition, transforms Conca della Campania, a small municipality in the Alto Casertano area of the Caserta province, into a vibrant cultural hub. Launched in 2022 and conceived by the municipality itself, the festival brings the big screen to the streets of an inland village, proving that culture can be a concrete engine for the regeneration of Campania's rural territories.
The festival's editorial line revolves around two major themes: social inclusion and environmental sustainability. Screenings are organized into two time slots: in the morning, venues welcome primary and secondary school students with age-appropriate works, while evening sessions are open to the general public. The program features a mix of national and international titles, feature films, documentaries, and animated cinema, often exploring stories of diversity, the environment, and community.
The Conca Film Festival is a widespread, multidisciplinary event that goes far beyond the cinema hall. The program includes:
Over the years, the festival has also launched an international short film competition aimed at young creatives, featuring awards such as the Rivo d'Oro and the Sguardi Futuri prize.
The event is supported by European Union funds under the NextGenerationEU program dedicated to rural centers, villages, and inland areas, as well as by the Ministry of Culture. Thanks to this structure, admission to all screenings and activities is completely free, with the goal of making cinema accessible and bringing life, tourism, and new ideas to a small Campanian municipality that is too often on the margins of major cultural circuits.
Those who choose the Conca Film Festival find much more than a series of screenings: they experience an immersive journey where cinema engages with schools, the environment, and the identity of a territory. It is the ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Caserta province, walk through the trails and flavors of the Alto Casertano, and be inspired by a festival that puts people, inclusion, and the future of villages at the center.
From April 15 to 18, 2026, the village of Conca della Campania, in the province of Caserta, hosted the third edition of the festival, once again dedicated to the themes of social inclusion, sustainability, and the revitalization of rural territories. Screenings took place in the large hall set up in the school gymnasium and in the art-house hall of the former Town Hall library, with morning sessions reserved for schools and evenings open to the general public.
Alongside the film program, the 2026 edition featured a cinema hackathon for young people, the CulturAut and Monster Allergy exhibitions, taste workshops linked to the ancient knowledge of the territory, and eco-itineraries along the scenic trails of the Alto Casertano. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality with the support of the European Union and the Ministry of Culture, maintained free admission for all activities.
The festival was divided into two segments: morning screenings reserved for primary and secondary schools and evening screenings open to the public. The program featured national and international titles, feature films, documentaries, and animation.
Guests of the 2026 edition included: Luca Trapanese, Renato Chiocca, Marino Guarnieri, Maurizio Forestieri, Paco Desiato, Luca Gianfrancesco, Letizia De Ieso, Giovanni Solino, and the Avamat collective. The artistic direction was entrusted to Claudia De Angelis and Alino.
Conca della Campania is located in the Alto Casertano area, in the northern part of the Caserta province. By car, it can be reached from the A1 Milan-Naples motorway (taking the relevant exits towards the Casertano area) and continuing along the internal provincial roads. The most convenient train station is Caianello-Vairano, on the Rome-Naples line, from where you can continue by car to the village.
Admission to screenings and activities is free. For evening screenings and workshops, booking is recommended by calling 328 2971992 or via the official website.
For eco-itineraries and gastronomic walks, comfortable shoes suitable for hiking trails are recommended. The village offers trattorias and agritourisms where you can savor the typical products of the Alto Casertano.
