About Commedia Castellana

Commedia Castellana brings open-air theatre to the heart of Marostica, on the charming Scalinata dei Carmini, transformed for one evening into a natural stage. A festival that combines irony, brilliance, and quality of the companies, in an urban setting of great charm at the foot of the walled town. An event eagerly awaited by lovers of comic and authorial theatre.

Theatre on the steps

Commedia Castellana is the theatre review that enlivens the summer of Marostica (province of Vicenza, Veneto) by bringing open-air performances to the Scalinata dei Carmini, one of the most evocative settings in the historic centre. The steps are transformed into a natural auditorium for evenings of brilliant and authorial theatre, in an intimate and cosy atmosphere.

Quality companies and direction

The event, organised by the association Teatris APS, offers curated productions each year, with texts from the best contemporary dramaturgy and high-level direction. The open-air performance takes place in the evening and, in case of rain, is moved indoors to the Oratorio Don Bosco Theatre.

A classic of Marostica's summer

Commedia Castellana is now a well-established event in the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Marostica, capable of combining the quality of theatre with the beauty of the walled town's urban setting.
