The Pumpkin: Autumn's Star

The Sernaglia della Battaglia Pumpkin Festival, in the province of Treviso, is one of the most beloved autumn festivals in the Quartier del Piave. For several weekends in October, the Pro Loco of Sernaglia pavilion fills with the aromas of seasonal cuisine, featuring pumpkin in every dish: gnocchi, crepes, pasta and cappellacci, pumpkin in saor, and fried pumpkin, as well as homemade bread, desserts, and jams.

A Quality Festival

In 2026, the festival received the Quality Festival award from UNPLI Nazionale, the Union of Pro Loco Associations of Italy. The award, accepted on March 15, 2026, in the Sala Koch of the Senate of the Republic by a local delegation, certifies the gastronomic care, attention to tradition, and organizational quality of the volunteers led by president Giuseppe Aliprandi and vice-president Cesare Merotto.

Contests, Exhibitions, and Excursions

In addition to the gastronomy, the event features a pumpkin carving contest for the students of Sernaglia and Falzè schools, a homemade pumpkin bread competition, an exhibition of pumpkins, and family-friendly entertainment such as puppet shows. The connection with the territory is also highlighted with a guided excursion to the Parco delle Fontane Bianche, one of the most picturesque natural areas in the Veneto region, accompanying the festival days.

A Community Celebration

Supported by the municipal administration and the entire community of Sernaglia della Battaglia, the Pumpkin Festival is the result of the hard work of the Pro Loco volunteers. This festival has even gained national television attention, with an episode of "Sagre d'Italia" dedicated to it on Food Network, and it tells the story of the agricultural and convivial identity of this corner of the Marca Trevigiana.
