Belluno's autumn festival among woods, colours, and slow tourism
Traces of Foliage is the event with which the Municipality of Belluno celebrates autumn and the phenomenon of foliage, the spectacle of woods changing colour between October and November. Born in 2023, the festival enhances the colours of the Dolomites and offers a new way to experience the season: slow, mindful, sustainable.
The programme alternates conferences, workshops, concerts, and guided walks in nature. Each edition chooses a theme: after colours (2023) and the flavours of the undergrowth (2024), the edition dedicated to autumn senses led the public to explore the woods through sight, smell, hearing, and taste. The heart of the indoor events is the courtyard of Palazzo Crepadona, while excursions and walks take place in the natural areas of Belluno.
Traces of Foliage is part of a strategy to promote slow and sustainable tourism in the Dolomite capital. The events, with free admission by reservation, combine scientific dissemination, mountain literature, mycology, music, and wellness, with guests such as the writer and mountaineer Paola Favero.
For the city of Belluno and the province of the Dolomites, the festival is also an opportunity for tourist de-seasonalisation, capable of enhancing the woods and trails of the territory in a period of great scenic charm.
For autumn 2026, the city of Belluno is preparing a new edition of Traces of Foliage, the festival celebrating foliage and the autumn season between Palazzo Crepadona and the natural areas of Belluno. The proven formula is confirmed: conferences, workshops, concerts, and guided walks, all focused on slow and sustainable tourism. The detailed programme, with the theme of the year and the schedule of events, will be announced by the Municipality of Belluno in the months preceding the event.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Municipality of Belluno in the weeks preceding the festival, scheduled for autumn.
