About Climate Fiction Days

Climate Fiction Days is Italy's first festival entirely dedicated to literature and other narratives surrounding climate change. Conceived and directed by Alessandra Repossi, it takes place in Pistoia every March, weaving together novels, poetry, theatre, comics, music, and scientific outreach to imagine the future and better understand the present. All events are free to attend.

A festival about the climate told through books

The Climate Fiction Days is the first Italian festival entirely dedicated to climate change literature and the narratives that attempt to imagine the future of our planet. Established in 2024, the event is held every March in Pistoia, in the heart of Tuscany, transforming the city into a vibrant storytelling hub where stories, ideas, and science converge to help us understand the present through the lens of tomorrow.

The festival is conceived and directed by Alessandra Repossi and organized by the Isole nel Sapere APS association, with the participation and support of the Municipality of Pistoia and the patronage of the Tuscany Region. The festival's philosophy is both simple and ambitious: the climate crisis cannot be tackled with numbers and charts alone, but also through stories, as narratives have the power to stir consciences and help us imagine possible worlds.

What to expect

The Climate Fiction Days program is multidisciplinary and designed for a wide audience: meetings with authors, national premieres, poetry readings, theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions, dialogues with scientists and communicators, comics, and reflections on literary translation. Events take place in various venues across Pistoia's historic centre, including the Biblioteca San Giorgio (the heart of the festival), Palazzo de' Rossi, Palazzo Fabroni, the Teatro Funaro, and the Museo dell'Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi.

A significant focus is placed on the younger generation, with workshops and activities for children and teenagers, school meetings, and environmental education initiatives. The festival aims to speak to all ages, as the climate issue is most relevant to those who will inherit the planet of tomorrow.

Pistoia Italian Capital of Books

The 2026 edition is part of the rich calendar of Pistoia Italian Capital of Books 2026, a recognition that confirms the cultural and literary vocation of this Tuscan city. In this context, the Climate Fiction Days take on an even more symbolic value, uniting a passion for books with the urgency of environmental issues.

An event for those who love books and the planet

Whether you are a fiction enthusiast, curious about scientific outreach, or simply sensitive to environmental issues, the Climate Fiction Days in Pistoia offer six intense days of high-quality meetings, all with free admission subject to availability. It is an opportunity to discover how literature can help us imagineโ€”and perhaps saveโ€”the future.
