A spectacular summer of free events at Piazza della Vita, just steps from the sea
The Civitavecchia Summer Festival, rebranded in 2026 as Marina Summer, is the premier summer event series in the Municipality of Civitavecchia, located in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. Every evening for nearly three months, Piazza della Vita—the beating heart of the Marina, just steps from the port and the historic Forte Michelangelo—transforms into a grand open-air stage overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The 2026 edition features 42 completely free evenings, with the potential for more dates to be added throughout the season. The program spans concerts, comedy shows, cabaret, tribute bands, and music festivals, complemented by food and beverage stalls that bring the square to life throughout the events. The festival kicks off on June 6 with the Civitavecchia Pride and concludes on August 30 with the Via Toledo Band, featuring a mix of international and Neapolitan music.
Following a 2025 edition built around major Italian and international stars, 2026 takes a different path. With more modest resources, the municipal administration and organizers have chosen to highlight local excellence, giving ample space to young bands from Civitavecchia and local musical acts. The result is an extensive and varied calendar designed to accompany residents and tourists throughout the summer without ever charging for a ticket.
The choice of Piazza della Vita is no coincidence: it is the iconic space of the Marina, a place for evening strolls and the city's traditional meeting point. Its proximity to the sea, the promenade, and the Forte Michelangelo creates a particularly evocative setting, especially on midsummer nights, when the sea breeze accompanies the shows late into the evening.
With rock, pop, and singer-songwriter concerts, cabaret nights, events dedicated to the new generation, and the traditional mid-August Padellone, the Civitavecchia Summer Festival confirms itself as a defining event for the local community and a source of entertainment for those arriving in the city by ship or from neighboring towns. It is a model of a widespread, free, and community-rooted festival that makes the Marina the summer living room of Civitavecchia.
The 2026 lineup takes a new direction compared to previous years: fewer big names and more space for the local scene, with 42 completely free entry events spread throughout the summer. The festival, organized by DM Production Srl with the support of the Municipality of Civitavecchia, opens on June 6 with the Civitavecchia Pride and closes on August 30 with the Via Toledo Band. In between, enjoy pop, rock, and singer-songwriter concerts, cabaret nights, music festivals, and the traditional mid-August Padellone.
Other bands and artists announced include: Sanremo Story, Primi della lista, Wever's Special 90, Sestanota, I Maggese, Rocco Barbaro, Nord sud ovest est, Assentio, C-Side, Prometeo, 10 gocce di Blasco, Greg & the Three Billies, Mascalzoni Latini, The Glam, and Il microfono d'oro. The calendar may be expanded during the season.
