About Ciné

Every summer, Riccione transforms for four days into the capital of Italian cinema. Ciné – Giornate di Cinema brings together the entire film industry: distribution companies premiere the titles of the upcoming season to industry professionals, featuring conventions, previews, conferences, and guests. Promoted by ANICA at the Palazzo dei Congressi, with over 2,000 accredited attendees, it is the most important film market in Italy. Alongside the professional section, the Ciné in Città (Cinema in Town) segment offers free screenings and events open to the public.

What is Ciné – Giornate di Cinema

Ciné – Giornate di Cinema is the event that brings together the entire Italian film industry in Riccione, in the province of Rimini, every summer. It is the meeting and market point where major distribution companies premiere the titles of the following season to industry operators: exhibitors, distributors, producers, journalists, and audiovisual professionals. For four days, the Palazzo dei Congressi (Congress Palace) in the Romagna town becomes the capital of the seventh art, with over 2,000 accredited attendees from all over Italy.

A Market, Not Just a Festival

Unlike festivals aimed at the general public, Ciné is primarily a professional market and networking event. Distributor conventions — from Disney to Universal Pictures, from 01 Distribution to Lucky Red, from Eagle Pictures to Vision Distribution, as well as BiM, Notorious Pictures, Medusa, and many others — punctuate the days with presentations of their slates and previews. These are complemented by conferences, panels, and round tables on hot industry topics, from cinema theaters to audiovisual policies.

Sections

  • Convention & Slates: presentations by distribution companies, the heart of the event.
  • Tradeshow: the exhibition area dedicated to companies in the sector.
  • Conferences & Panels: in-depth meetings on the present and future of cinema in theaters.
  • Ciné Camp: the section dedicated to younger audiences, created with the Giffoni Film Festival.
  • Ciné in Città: free screenings and events open to the public, held in various locations around the town.

Promoters and Context

The event is promoted by ANICA (National Association of Audiovisual and Digital Film Industries) in collaboration with ANEC and with the participation of ACEC, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the Municipality of Riccione; production and organization are handled by Cineventi. According to the «Effetto Ciné» analysis, the event generates a direct economic impact estimated at around 2.26 million euros for the local area, benefiting hospitality, catering, and local services.

An Event Rooted on the Riviera

Choosing Riccione, a seaside gem of the Romagna Riviera, means combining industry work with the charm of the Adriatic summer: between one convention and another, accredited attendees and residents experience the town at the height of the season, with its beaches, boulevards, and famous nightlife. It is this combination of film business and summer atmosphere that makes Ciné a unique event on the Italian scene.
