Cicloturistica Montegallo Bike Tour

A ride in the heart of the Sibillini

The Cicloturistica Montegallo Bike Tour is one of the most beloved summer events in the Monti Sibillini, in the Municipality of Montegallo, in the province of Ascoli Piceno (Marche). It is not a competitive race but an ecological cycling tour, designed for everyone: expert bikers, e-bike enthusiasts and families with children can tackle the route at their own pace, immersed in one of the most suggestive mountain landscapes of the central Apennines.

Routes and territory

The event offers three routes of increasing difficulty, called Soft, Classic and Hard, which wind for about 80% on dirt roads, paths and ancient mule tracks. The distances range from 20 to 40 kilometers, with elevation gains from 600 up to about 1,500 meters.

• Soft — about 20 km, suitable for families and beginners
• Classic — about 32 km, for trained cyclists
• Hard — about 40 km, reserved for the most experienced bikers

The routes cross chestnut, beech and pine woods and touch some of the 23 scattered hamlets that make up the territory of Montegallo. The most spectacular points reach the meadows of Santa Maria in Pantano, at the foot of Monte Vettore (2,476 m, the highest peak of the Sibillini), and intersect with the famous Grande Anello dei Sibillini (Great Ring of the Sibillini).

Atmosphere, refreshments and final party

Along the routes, there are several refreshment points with typical local products from the Piceno area: rustic pizzas, watermelons cooled in spring water and arrosticini near the finish line. The day concludes in a festive atmosphere with a pasta party, music with a DJ, fried olives ascolane and awards in the pine forest, with prizes for the largest teams, the youngest participant, the "Veteran" and the one who traveled the farthest.

An event that revitalizes the territory

The Montegallo Bike Tour is much more than a sporting event. Born from the passion of Fabio Gentili and organized by ASD Casteltrosino Superbike together with the Pro Loco of Montegallo, the event aims to bring life and visitors back to a territory deeply marked by the 2016 earthquake, when only a small part of the houses remained habitable. Cycling through these mountains means concretely supporting the rebirth of the communities of the Marche hinterland and rediscovering a natural and human heritage of extraordinary beauty.
